Ganesha, the remover of obstacles

This form of Ganesha is visualised by a Guler artist in a serene atmosphere of mango groves in a pavilion under clear summer sky. Ganesha clad in a white dhoti is seated on a fully blossomed lotus with folded feet. Divine imagery is always rendered with multiple arms symbolising more power than the ephemeral beings. He is seen bearing in his four arms the attributes namely noose, goad, modak and a Varada mudra granting boons to his devotees. The elephant God in vermilion hue provides strong contrast to the greens in the background. 

A fine stippling work is made in the background by drawing many small strokes of a very diluted paint. A group of brush strokes marked together to represent the mango leaves are made using the squirrel brush and add richness to the otherwise flat background. Sometimes the artists leave a flat background to drive attention to the main figure.
