Iconographic Commentary & Symbolism
This painting is a study of facial features of a nayika in Guler style of Pahari tradition. The delicate facial features are brought out by dry brush technique carefully built over layers of minimal usage of the pigments with a squirrel hair brush. The flakes of gold leaf in the background add to the grandeur of the face and this feature is borrowed from the Mughal painting tradition.
